One of the strategies I discuss with my clients what is the best domain name for their business. There are many variables we take into consideration, type of business, name of business, location of business, target market of clients trying to reach?
However, below is a questions I am asked and wanted to answer here.
How long should I register my domain names?
Registering domains for 2 years or longer has proven to help with rankings as well, because Google doesn’t view these as “spam” domains.
So register the domains for as long as you can to improve rankings and avoid any domain age penalties that Google’s algorythm may asses for brand new domains.
Also, Should I use a dash in my domain name?
Domains with dashes are starting to get a little harder to get ranked than those without dashes, so look for the .com, .org, and then .net without any dashes first (ie. www.yourkeyword.com as opposed to www.your-keyword.com).
